Maria and Joe do their best to raise Jesus in a faithful, practicing Jewish family but their nation is occupied in the same way that Russia is trying to occupy Ukraine.
Maria and Joe see that their countrymen, fathers, brothers and sons have been exiled, imprisoned, killed by Romans in the same way as fathers, brothers and sons have been exiled, imprisoned, killed by Russian bombs, bullets, missiles.
Maria and Joe see that mothers, sisters and daughters have been raped, widowed, and exiled by Roman soldiers, in the same way as Ukrainian mothers, sisters, and daughters are being raped, widowed and exiled by minions of President Putin.
It is under these conditions that Saint Joseph and Blessed Maria do their best to raise Jesus in a faithful, practicing Jewish family.
Similar to refugees crossing the Mexican U.S. border Joe, Maria with baby Jesus in arm, crossed the Israel Egypt boarder. For ‘Seven’ years they lived in Egypt -strangers in a strange land, doing their best to raise a faithful, practicing Jewish child.
They failed.
Mary’s heart hurt as if pierced by seven swords as her adult son was accused, arrested, tried, found guilty and executed by the state, their religion, and disappointed neighbors.
Dramatically Maria will hold in her arms, the too soon dead body of her son, as she once held his infant body, thirty-three years before.
It will be three days after he has been seeded into the womb of the earth, that Maria, mother of Jesus will be revealed as Theotokos, Mother of God.
Some Mothers want to be the mother of a priest.
Some mothers, want to be the mother of a doctor.
Some mothers want to be the mother of a president.
Some mothers want to be the mother of a CEO.
Some mothers want to the mother of Miss America.
To be the mother of God, Maria’s heart was pierced as if by a sword.
To be the mother of God, Maria was accused by her child: “Who is my mother?” (Mathew 12:48).
To be the mother of God, Maria had to cradle the beaten body of her executed son.
To be the mother of God Maria had to say “Yes” to God.
Each of us will have the opportunity to say “Yes” to God in the year 2023 right up to the moment of our death.
Each ‘yes’ to God, reveals a new heaven and a new earth.
Each ‘yes’ makes present the Kingdom of heaven.
Each ‘yes’ to God is your death and your resurrection.
Each “yes” to God that you say, is the power of the Holy Spirit.
Today, say “yes” to God.

María y Joe hacen todo lo posible para criar a Jesús en una familia judía fiel y practicante, pero su nación está ocupada de la misma manera que Rusia está tratando de ocupar Ucrania.
Maria y Joe ven que sus compa-tri-otas, padres, hermanos e hijos han sido exiliados, encarcelados, a-se-sinados por los romanos de la misma manera que padres, hermanos e hijos han sido ex-il-iados, encarcelados, a-se-sinados por bombas, balas y mi-si-les rusos.

Para ser la madre de Dios, María tuvo que decir “Sí” a Dios.

Cada “sí” a Dios revela un cielo nuevo y una tierra nueva.

Cada “sí” a Dios que decís, es poder del Espíritu Santo.
