John Hagee, a powerful Evangelical preacher wrote a booklet titled Mastering Your Money.
The next few weeks I will share with you the 10 principles Pastor Hagee developed to help Christians to master their money, prosper, and tithe to God through their church community.
To be transparent, I myself have not used these principles as I might have, but by sharing them I hope to stimulate my personal mastering of money. Please note that these principles are Bible based not Worldly based. Hagee writes: "Jesus Christ gave us thirty-eight parables. Sixteen of those thirty-eight parables deal with money management.
Do you realize that more is said in the New Testament about money than heaven and hell combined?" No, I did not! "The fact is that you will either master your money, or your money will master you."
Principle # 1 You will never prosper until you believe and confess that it is God's will for you to prosper!
Principle # 2 God owns all the wealth in the world! "You are a steward, while God is the owner. You will give an account to God for how you managed His resources; Mathew 25:14. Since all my money is God's money, every spending decision I make is a spiritual decision. Your checkbook is a spiritual reflection of your love for Christ," writes Pastor John Hagee. Ouch!
Principle # 3 All of God's wealth belongs to His children! 1 Corinthians 3:21-23; Romans 8:17. Some of Pastor Hagee's principles will sound.... difficult for us Catholics- a difference in theological emphasis, but it can be fruitful to consider differences.
Next week we will consider:
Principle # 4
The difference between living a life of prosperity and a life of poverty is a matter of choice!
